IT Support / Endpoint Engineer

Job Purpose

Be the hands-on support and endpoint engineer for TRYST: devices, first-line service, joiner kit, and the asset register, under the Manager, IT Infrastructure & Operations.

TRYST is a research-to-translation institution on the IIT Bombay campus. A first group of staff joins in November, with a much larger intake following in December. This role exists to ensure that the onboarding workload does not fall on a single individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line IT support for workstations, access, printing, meeting-room, and connectivity issues, in line with published response targets.
• Build, issue, recover, wipe, and recycle laptops while maintaining an accurate asset register linked to employee joining and leaving processes.
• Manage endpoint operations on a day-to-day basis, including Intune (or equivalent), encryption, patching, and baseline compliance.
• Support joiner, mover, and leaver activities related to devices and standard access, working from Keka and Microsoft 365 / Entra ID under the direction of the Manager.
• Escalate campus network, licensed software, and journal access requests to the IIT Bombay Computing Centre through the approved process. Do not establish a parallel network.
• Provide overflow support during intake periods. After-hours or surge support may be required around major onboarding dates.

Experience

Required

• 3–6 years of experience in workplace, endpoint, desktop support, or a similar hands-on IT support role.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID or Active Directory, and device management platforms such as Intune, JAMF, or similar tools.
• Experience managing high volumes of employee onboarding and device provisioning.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to support researchers and external vendors effectively.

Preferred

• Experience supporting campus, academic, or research-lab environments.
• Familiarity with Keka or other HR systems used for onboarding and employee lifecycle management.
