What they need
IT Support Specialist | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
A locked account or failed laptop can cost someone an entire morning. As an IT Support Specialist in Philadelphia, you will be the first person employees contact for everyday technology problems and the steady guide who keeps each request moving toward a clear resolution.
Tickets you will see
- Password, multifactor authentication and user-access issues.
- Windows workstation, monitor, dock, printer and peripheral problems.
- Microsoft 365 questions involving Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and basic permissions.
- New-hire device setup, software installation and equipment returns.
- Connectivity or application issues that need documented escalation.
How support moves
You will acknowledge each ticket, ask focused questions, try approved troubleshooting steps and document what happened in plain language. Straightforward issues should be resolved at first contact when possible. Requests involving security, infrastructure or advanced permissions will be escalated with complete notes so the next technician does not have to start again. The queue supports office-based users, so priorities may shift when an issue stops someone from working.
Your technical foundation
One year of help desk, desktop support or comparable hands-on training is preferred. You should understand Windows basics, Microsoft 365, common hardware and safe password practices. A degree is not required. Certifications such as CompTIA A+ are useful but optional. Clear customer communication, careful documentation and the ability to follow security procedures are essential. The position also involves moving and connecting standard desktop equipment using safe handling practices.
The first 90 days
- Learn the ticketing system, device standards and escalation map.
- Handle common access, software and hardware requests with coaching.
- Build consistent ticket notes and meet agreed response expectations.
- Begin owning a broader queue as product knowledge grows.
