What they need

About Canadensys

At our core, Canadensys Aerospace Corporation is a space exploration company moving humanity into the cosmos. We are an innovative space systems company serving customers around the world. We blend our advanced space hardware capabilities with smart, rugged designs to develop unique solutions for planetary, orbital, and terrestrial environments. Canadensys-built space systems have flown aboard many lunar missions, and our hardware continues to successfully operate on the surface of the Moon today. Our modern business approach enables effective space program and mission development for both commercial and government customers.

We are seeking high-calibre, experienced candidates to join a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team working on a series of flight-focused and near-term space development activities.

Our IT infrastructure directly supports the engineering, integration, and test work behind that hardware.

Position Description – IT Systems Administrator

▪ We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to own and operate the company’s IT environment, which directly supports our development of cutting edge space exploration systems. This is a hands-on, broad-scope role: you will be the primary owner of our networks, servers, endpoints, Microsoft 365 environment, and user support, with external specialist support available for escalations.

▪ You should be comfortable operating independently, communicating clearly with non-technical colleagues, and keeping current with modern tools and practices — the systems you administer support flight hardware programs, and must be run with the same discipline.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Security

▪ Administer core IT infrastructure: networks, servers, storage, endpoints, and peripherals across the organization.
▪ Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Entra ID (identity, SSO, MFA, access policies).
▪ Manage backup and disaster recovery: implement, monitor, and periodically test backup jobs and restoration procedures.
▪ Maintain security posture: patching, endpoint protection, network security, monitoring, and user access reviews.
▪ Evaluate, deploy, and administer new infrastructure and storage systems as the company’s needs evolve.
▪ Evaluate, recommend, and maintain physical security systems (access control, cameras) in coordination with management.

User Support & Enablement

Projects & Planning

▪ Scope, plan, and execute IT projects in collaboration with senior management, from requirements through delivery.

▪ Coordinate external vendors and specialist support firms, including escalation and incident-response engagements.

▪ Identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, and workflow efficiency across the company’s systems.

▪ Administer core IT infrastructure: networks, servers, storage, endpoints, and peripherals across the organization.Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Entra ID (identity, SSO, MFA, access policies).

Qualifications

Required

▪ 5+ years of professional IT experience, including hands-on administration of Windows Server and desktop environments and of Microsoft 365 / Entra ID. Strong candidates with slightly less experience and demonstrably current skills are encouraged to apply.

▪ Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of certifications and hands-on experience.

▪ Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi.

▪ Practical experience implementing and testing backup and disaster-recovery procedures.

▪ Strong documentation habits and the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues.

▪ Demonstrated commitment to staying current with modern systems, tooling, and security practices.

▪ All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must also be able to meet the requirements for Government of Canada national security clearance and Government of Canada Controlled Goods clearance.

Assets

▪ Relevant current certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+ / Security+, Microsoft AZ-104 / MS-102, or comparable).

▪ Experience with NAS platforms, virtualization, or storage systems (e.g., Synology DSM, Proxmox, VMware, ZFS/TrueNAS).

▪ Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python).

▪ Prior experience as the sole or lead IT resource within an organization.

▪ Familiarity with physical security and access-control systems.

Compensation

▪ Salary range: CA$70,000–$105,000, commensurate with experience.

▪ Comprehensive benefits package, including dental, vision, health, drug and travel insurances, etc.
