What they need

Position Summary

The IT Systems & Project Manager is the primary local owner for IT operations, business systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, user support, and technology projects. The role ensures reliable day-to-day support while leading improvements across the cloud ERP system, the manufacturing execution system (MES), Microsoft 365, Power BI, databases, networks, servers, and connected shop-floor technologies. This position works closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, HR, global IT, key users, and external partners to translate business requirements into secure, supportable, and well-managed solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure, Security and Administration

  • Administer and maintain local servers, storage, networks, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, segmentation, endpoints, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, operating systems, databases, and virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Administer Microsoft Active Directory, Azure/Entra-related services, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Teams and telephony, SharePoint, user accounts, licenses, groups, and access rights.
  • Execute onboarding, role changes, periodic access reviews, and offboarding in coordination with HR and business leaders.
  • Maintain IT security and data-protection controls in alignment with global and local requirements, including patching, endpoint protection, privileged access, backups, recovery procedures, and security awareness.
  • Maintain system availability, backup compliance, business continuity and disaster-recovery documentation; periodically support recovery testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of the local IT landscape, interfaces, configurations, asset inventory, licenses, support arrangements, and system dependencies.

Business Systems: ERP, MES and Reporting

  • Support local administration, support, configuration, testing, and continuous improvement for the ERP system, including workflows, permissions, layouts, licenses, scanners, interfaces, and approved local adaptations.
  • Support MES administration and shop-floor use, including user access, required fields, layouts, licenses, device connectivity, issue resolution, and coordination with production stakeholders.
  • Monitor and support integrations among the ERP, MES, data warehouse/data marts, MDM, Power BI, document systems, scanners, and other local or global applications.
  • Coordinate upgrades, service packs, testing, release readiness, and user communication; ensure global IT involvement and approval where required.

Service Delivery and Technical Support

  • Provide responsive user support for hardware, software, connectivity, access, and general technical questions; triage incidents and service requests based on business impact.
  • Diagnose root causes, implement or coordinate corrective actions, document resolutions, and identify recurring issues that require permanent improvement.
  • Set up and configure workstations and peripheral devices; schedule maintenance and upgrades to minimize business disruption.
  • Manage external technology vendors and support partners, including scope, priorities, service quality, issue escalation, and local coordination with global IT.
  • Provide training, orientation, job aids, and change support so users can operate systems and equipment effectively.

Project Management and Business Partnership

  • Lead cross-functional IT and business-system projects from intake through stabilization, including upgrades, integrations, infrastructure improvements, cybersecurity initiatives, process digitization, and new system deployments.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, resources, budget considerations, dependencies, risks, testing plans, and success measures.
  • Create and maintain practical project plans, action logs, risk and issue registers, decision logs, status reporting, and cutover or go-live checklists.
  • Facilitate requirements workshops, translate business needs into functional and technical requirements, and align stakeholders on priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, global IT, key users, vendors, and implementation partners; hold owners accountable for actions and escalate barriers promptly.
  • Plan and coordinate user acceptance testing, data validation, training, change communication, deployment, hypercare, and post-implementation review.
  • Manage multiple concurrent priorities while balancing urgent operational support with longer-term improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business systems, engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, business applications, manufacturing technology, or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting a cloud ERP system in areas such as finance, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, sales, warehousing, workflows, security, or integrations.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing execution system (MES); experience with a comparable shop-floor platform is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure/Entra, Teams, SharePoint, Windows server/client environments, networking, virtualization, databases, cybersecurity, backup, and recovery.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, data interfaces, data warehouses, or reporting platforms is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project-management capability, including scope, schedule, risk, stakeholder, vendor, testing, change, and implementation management. PMP, CAPM, Agile, or comparable training is a plus.
  • Ability to work within global governance standards while representing local business requirements and operational realities.

Core Competencies

  • Service orientation and responsiveness: Provides practical, timely, and accurate support with a positive, ownership-based approach.
  • Project leadership: Brings structure to complex work, drives decisions, communicates status clearly, and follows through to measurable completion.
  • Business process understanding: Connects system configuration and data flows to manufacturing, finance, supply chain, quality, and customer-service outcomes.
  • Problem solving and root-cause analysis: Gathers facts, evaluates alternatives, resolves immediate issues, and prevents recurrence.
  • Communication and change management: Explains technical topics clearly, prepares useful documentation, and supports users through process or system changes.
  • Security and control mindset: Protects access, data, system availability, and compliance without losing sight of business usability.
  • Organization and judgment: Manages competing demands, handles sensitive information appropriately, and knows when to resolve, coordinate, or escalate.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with local teams, global IT, key users, vendors, and implementation partners across functions and cultures.
  • Continuous improvement: Identifies opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual work, improve data quality, and strengthen system reliability.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and use of computers and hand tools. It may require work in office, server-room, warehouse, and manufacturing environments, including occasional work near operating equipment; bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or reaching; and lifting or moving IT equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions. Specific requirements should be confirmed through the company's standard job-evaluation process.
