What they need

The IT/OT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the strategy, architecture, operation, security, reliability, and lifecycle management of ASARCO's Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure.

The position oversees ASARCO's enterprise and industrial networks, firewalls, servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, data centers, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and related infrastructure services across all locations.

ASARCO's server infrastructure is primarily based on Microsoft Windows Server and VMware technologies, with a limited number of Ubuntu/Linux systems. The Manager will ensure that these environments remain secure, resilient, scalable, properly documented, monitored, and capable of supporting continuous mining, processing, smelting, and business operations.

This role establishes infrastructure architecture and technical standards, develops multiyear lifecycle and investment plans, leads infrastructure projects, manages vendors and budgets, and provides leadership to the infrastructure team.

The IT/OT Infrastructure Manager works closely with the OT Manager, Cybersecurity, Process Control, site operations, and other Technology teams to ensure effective integration and clear accountability across IT and OT environments.

The position reports directly to the Director of Technology.

Requirements:

Infrastructure Strategy and Architecture

  • Develop and maintain ASARCO's IT/OT infrastructure strategy, architecture, technical standards, and multiyear lifecycle roadmap.

  • Establish standard architectures for servers, storage, virtualization, networks, data centers, backup systems, monitoring, and secure remote connectivity.

  • Evaluate infrastructure technologies and recommend solutions based on operational requirements, cybersecurity risk, reliability, scalability, supportability, and total cost of ownership.

  • Identify infrastructure obsolescence, capacity limitations, single points of failure, and technical debt, and develop plans to address them.

  • Ensure infrastructure designs support high availability, disaster recovery, operational continuity, cybersecurity, and future business requirements.

  • Review and approve infrastructure designs and technical changes before implementation.

Server, Storage, and Platform Management

  • Oversee ASARCO's Microsoft-based server environment, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and other core Microsoft infrastructure services.

  • Oversee VMware virtualization environments, including vSphere and ESXi, as well as SAN/NAS storage platforms.

  • Ensure appropriate administration and support of ASARCO's limited Ubuntu/Linux server environment.

  • Manage the architecture, configuration, patching, upgrading, monitoring, performance, capacity, and lifecycle of server and storage infrastructure.

  • Establish standards for server builds, configurations, access, monitoring, documentation, and lifecycle replacement.

  • Ensure infrastructure configurations are standardized, secure, documented, monitored, and recoverable.

  • Ensure effective monitoring of server and storage availability, performance, resource utilization, capacity, and hardware health, with appropriate thresholds, alerts, escalation procedures, capacity reviews, and corrective actions.

  • Coordinate infrastructure maintenance and changes with business and operational stakeholders to minimize production impact.

Network and Connectivity Management

  • Oversee enterprise and industrial network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, routing, switching, firewalls, site connectivity, industrial DMZs, and secure remote access.
