Procurement Manager – IT Software & Technology Sourcing

Location: Bethpage, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Contract: 6-month contract-to-hire

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager specializing in IT software, SaaS, technology licensing, and strategic sourcing. This role will focus heavily on software renewals, new subscriptions, and additional licensing orders across enterprise technology and cybersecurity platforms.

The right candidate will have strong IT procurement experience and the ability to independently manage the full procurement lifecycle, from gathering business requirements and negotiating pricing to reviewing contracts, obtaining approvals, and coordinating execution and ordering. This person should be a confident negotiator who can challenge large software vendors, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure agreements align with business needs and licensing requirements.

What the Right Candidate Will Enjoy

  • Managing strategic procurement activities involving major enterprise software and technology vendors.
  • Taking ownership of complex software renewals, subscription agreements, and licensing negotiations.
  • Working with a collaborative procurement team and business stakeholders across the organization.
  • Identifying opportunities to control software costs, improve contract terms, and maximize licensing value.

What Type of Experience Does the Right Candidate Have?

  • 5–8 years of relevant procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management experience, with a strong focus on IT software, technology, or SaaS procurement.
  • Hands-on experience managing software renewals, new subscriptions, supplemental licensing purchases, and enterprise software agreements.
  • Proven success negotiating pricing, commercial terms, subscription structures, and licensing agreements with large enterprise software vendors.
  • Experience reviewing and redlining vendor contracts and partnering with Legal to address contract language, risks, and terms.
  • Understanding of software licensing models, subscription entitlements, usage limits, overages, and cost-containment strategies.
  • Ability to manage procurement requests independently, from initial requirements through negotiation, approvals, contract signature, and ordering.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with IT, business units, Legal, Finance, and executive approvers.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple urgent requests and shifting priorities.

What Are the Responsibilities of the Right Candidate?

  • Manage software renewals and licensing: Lead the procurement of software renewals, new subscriptions, supplemental licenses, and other IT technology purchases.
  • Own end-to-end procurement: Manage each request from initial business requirements and scope definition through sourcing, negotiations, approvals, contract execution, and ordering.
  • Negotiate with enterprise software vendors: Secure competitive pricing and favorable commercial terms while confidently pushing back on vendor proposals when needed.
  • Review licensing and subscription terms: Evaluate licensing structures, subscription models, entitlements, usage requirements, and potential overages to help control costs and avoid unnecessary spend.
  • Lead contract negotiations: Review and redline vendor agreements, coordinate with Legal on contract language and risk, and ensure appropriate terms are in place before execution.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders: Work closely with IT teams, business units, Legal, Finance, and executive stakeholders to gather requirements, align on scope and budgets, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Support enterprise technology procurement: Manage sourcing activities across software, SaaS, cybersecurity, and other technology platforms.
  • Drive cost optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce software expenses, improve renewal terms, and ensure purchases align with business needs and licensing requirements.
  • Manage competing priorities: Track procurement requests, maintain momentum on negotiations, follow through on outstanding approvals, and keep urgent purchases moving toward completion.
  • Maintain procurement accuracy and compliance: Ensure agreements, pricing, approvals, and purchase details are properly reviewed and coordinated throughout the procurement process.
