IWS Production Lead

Here at Griffin’s Snacks, we’re part of the Intersnack Group, a global snack food leader operating in over 30 countries. However, whilst internationally owned, we manufacture locally and proudly produce some of New Zealand’s favourite snack brands - including Snackachangi, ETA, Proper Crisps, Griffin’s, Huntley & Palmers, Mexicano and Nice & Natural.

We are recruiting for an IWS Production Lead to join our team at our Papakura manufacturing site, our ideal candidate will be passionate about optimising production processes, improving efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll coach and support your team to deliver change, build capability and embed improved ways of working on the shop floor. You’ll foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, while helping the team understand the value of our IWS journey and their role in making it successful.

The key focus of this role is to ensure production targets and manufacturing plans are achieved within agreed timeframes and resources. Alongside the daily running of production and team leadership, you’ll be involved in a range of projects and continuous improvement initiatives. We’re looking for someone who thrives on a challenge, proactively seeks opportunities to improve, and is confident thinking outside the box!

You will be well supported under the direction of the Production Manager and IWS Manager. We are looking for an experienced people and technical leader who can effectively drive engagement, connect with key stakeholders across the business, and make sound decisions under pressure. You will be resilient, adaptable, and comfortable being challenged.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Leading a production team across three shifts, including making decisions relating to breakdowns, labour requirements and site/security issues.
• Managing, engaging, and developing the team- including recruitment, performance management and training to achieve the vision of a highly skilled, flexible shift team.
• Championing Health & Safety and Food Safety - driving GMP and ensuring safe working practices are maintained.
• Ensuring all production targets & manufacturing plans are achieved while meeting product quality standards, optimizing labour and minimizing waste.
• Leading and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that support site performance and our IWS journey.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Ideally, 5 years’ proven experience in a leadership role at a team leader / production supervisor (as a minimum) or shift manager level.
• Ideally, you’ll have a tertiary qualification in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Technology, or another relevant field.
• A strong record of developing people and building a positive culture, who can effectively drive engagement, link with key stakeholders across the business and make sound decisions under pressure!
• Experience within a food manufacturing environment – including awareness of key food safety and quality requirements.
• Strong communication skills to engage your team and advocate for your team when working with other departments.
• Resilience, sound judgement and confidence making decisions under pressure.
