Janitor

**JOB SUMMARY**

This position is responsible for keeping assigned buildings in a clean and orderly condition; reporting system and maintenance problems to the supervisor.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and vacuums hallways, stairs, and office space.
• Turns lights on or off as required.
• Cleans bathrooms and replaces toiletries as required, washes walls and windows, and dusts woodwork.
• Performs minor maintenance such as painting and light bulb replacement.
• Empties office and department trash and garbage containers.
• Orders cleaning and other supplies and maintains adequate inventory.
• Notifies management concerning the need for repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilating, and other installations and equipment.
• Occasionally performs additional duties in the Courthouse or assists with additional custodial work, such as shampooing carpets.
• Occasionally may assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and grass mowing.
