Janitor

Job Summary:

The Janitor is responsible for the cleaning, housekeeping, and overall cleanliness and sanitary conditions of multi-family housing and commercial facilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• No supervisory responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Visually inspect property for debris, litter, obstructions, or other hazards.
• Remove trash and debris from common areas and recently vacated units.
• Clean and sanitize vacant units including behind appliances, vacuuming carpet and stairs, mopping floors, cleaning windows and railings, and other tasks as assigned to prepare for new tenants.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen facilities, restrooms, offices, common areas, and lobbies, including interior trash receptacles, windows, railings, hardware, fixtures, and floors.
• Deep clean hightraffic areas including shampooing carpet, waxing/sealing/buffing floors, and sanitizing hand rails and doorknobs.
• Set up and tear down decorations for special occasions.
• Assist maintenance with changing out light bulbs and tubes or touching up paint and stain.
• Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, streets, and lots as needed.
• Maintain materials, parts, and supplies inventory.
• Develop professional and respectful relationships with tenants, vendors, and other employees.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from Property Manager.
• General knowledge of cleaning and sanitation.
• Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.

Education and Experience:

• Prior experience in sanitation, janitorial services, or relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
