Janitor

Join our dynamic facilities team as a Janitor and play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all. As a Janitor, you will be responsible for executing cleaning routines with precision, handling cleaning equipment safely, and adhering to all safety protocols to deliver exceptional custodial services.

Schedule

Please be aware that this is a split shift position which means you will have to do mornings and again in the evenings. Monday - Friday 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of floors, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
• Handle chemical agents safely by following established chemical handling safety procedures and maintaining proper storage practices.
• Conduct sanitation tasks including trash removal, disinfecting surfaces, and restocking supplies to ensure hygiene standards are met consistently.
• Operate cleaning equipment efficiently, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and industrial cleaning tools to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or reporting larger issues to facilities management for prompt resolution.
• Practice safe manual handling techniques during heavy lifting or moving of furniture and supplies to prevent injuries.
• Support facilities maintenance activities by ensuring all areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols at all times.

Experience

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Demonstrated ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and follow chemical handling safety procedures.
• Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and other custodial tools is advantageous.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards and safety protocols related to facilities maintenance is highly desirable.
• Strong manual handling skills with an understanding of safe lifting practices to manage heavy loads effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety in busy environments.
• Customer service skills are a plus, as this role often involves interacting courteously with staff and visitors while performing duties.
