Janitor/Cleaner

Job Summary

Duties

• Perform routine cleaning of offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies
• Handle chemical agents safely, following all chemical handling safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination
• Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, and other custodial equipment to maintain floors in excellent condition
• Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling tasks for moving furniture, supplies, or equipment in accordance with safe lifting practices
• Ensure proper sanitation by disinfecting surfaces, trash removal, and replenishing supplies such as paper towels and soap
• Follow safety protocols consistently to maintain a secure working environment for yourself and others
• Assist with basic facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs or reporting issues that require specialized attention

Skills

• Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial roles within commercial or industrial settings
• Strong knowledge of custodial practices, floor care techniques, and sanitation standards
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and adhere to chemical handling safety procedures
• Skilled in operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners
• Excellent manual handling skills with an understanding of safe lifting practices for heavy objects
• Customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors when needed
• Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks including basic repairs or troubleshooting issues
