About the role

The Japanese Interpreter / IT Support Coordinator is responsible for providing accurate Japanese-English interpretation and translation support, particularly for IT-related discussions, projects, systems, and technical documentation. The position serves as a communication bridge between Japanese-speaking stakeholders and local IT personnel, ensuring that technical information, instructions, requirements, and concerns are clearly understood by all parties. The role also requires sufficient knowledge of Information Technology, programming concepts, and software development processes to effectively interpret technical discussions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Japanese-English and English-Japanese interpretation during meetings, discussions, training sessions, presentations, and technical consultations.
• Translate IT-related documents, emails, manuals, specifications, system requirements, reports, and other technical materials.
• Facilitate communication between Japanese management, Japanese IT personnel, local employees, programmers, developers, and other technical teams.
• Interpret technical terminology related to software development, programming, databases, networks, systems, and information security.
• Assist in communicating and clarifying system requirements, project specifications, technical instructions, and business requirements.
• Attend IT project meetings and provide real-time interpretation while ensuring that important technical details are accurately conveyed.
• Coordinate and follow up on IT-related concerns, requests, and instructions between Japanese and local teams.
• Assist IT personnel in understanding Japanese technical documentation, system specifications, and business requirements.
• Support software development or IT projects by helping bridge communication gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain proper documentation of translated materials, meeting discussions, technical terms, and project-related communications.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Japanese Studies, or a related field.
• Proficient in Japanese and English, both written and verbal.
• Preferably with JLPT N2 or higher or equivalent Japanese language proficiency.
• Preferably with experience working with Japanese companies, Japanese clients, or Japanese-speaking professionals.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Information Technology and programming concepts.
• Familiarity with software development terminology, system development processes, databases, networking, and IT infrastructure is an advantage.
• Previous experience as a Japanese Interpreter, Translator, IT Interpreter, Technical Interpreter, or IT professional is preferred.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, PHP, or similar is an advantage.
• Ability to understand and accurately communicate technical concepts even when they are unfamiliar or complex.
