Java Back End Developer

Role Summary

Hiring Java Backend Developers to build and scale an in-house regulatory screening engine as part of a long-term modernization initiative. The team is replacing a vendor-based solution and developing a scalable microservices ecosystem that supports ongoing regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend applications.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Contribute to the development of a regulatory sanctions screening platform.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system design, development, deployment, and production support.
• Support application modernization and platform scalability initiatives.
• Participate in code reviews, problem-solving discussions, and technical design sessions.
• Follow CI/CD and deployment best practices.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 3+ years of software development experience (4+ years preferred).
• Strong Java programming and coding skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of database fundamentals and data modeling concepts.
• Familiarity with Microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts, build pipelines, and deployment processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Spring Batch experience.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Cloud platform exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar).
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership.
