As part of this strategy, Commerzbank continues the expansion of its Digital Technology Center in Sofia, Bulgaria. We need motivated people who will join us on this journey, and we are looking for a Java Developer in our Accounts and Deposits team.

The cluster Accounts and Deposits develops standardized, individual and complex account products including the conception and marketing of integrated price and service bundles. The team is responsible for the account creation process in ONE as well as account management (booking, contracts, contract management, product and condition management) and account offboarding (account deletion process). They orchestrate Commerzbank’s account platform and provide account information and convenience services around the account.

Your responsibilities would consist of:

• Participating in the development of new reusable services, APIs, and applications based on business requirements to implement the product's functionalities.
• Integrating backend systems from the Commerzbank IT landscape and developing backend components to realize the functionality of your applications.
• Designing and developing solutions for business requirements and business data objects supporting digital finance functionalities and processes. Of course, you will be supported by the business analysts, architects, and senior developers in the team.
• Contributing to the implementation of technical solutions, ensuring maintainability, performance, security, and alignment with established architecture and development standards.
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to knowledge sharing, engineering best practices, and the continuous improvement of development processes within the team.
• Contributing to application quality by implementing automated tests, following CI/CD practices, and applying secure coding principles.
• Supporting incident resolution, bug fixing, root-cause analysis, and the continuous improvement of existing applications, working closely with the test and development teams.
• Collaborating closely with business analysts, architects, product owners, and other stakeholders to refine requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Proactively identifying and addressing technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt within the applications you support.
• Working in an agile team setup.
• Participating in Scrum ceremonies.
• Supporting production readiness and operational excellence by participating in deployments, monitoring application stability, and helping resolve production issues.

The skills and experience we would like you to have:

• Strong Java, Spring and Spring Boot knowledge.
• Knowledge to analyse business requirements, design robust architectures and object-oriented solutions, define interfaces and modular structures, and provide technical guidance and best practices to the team.
• Solid knowledge to develop REST APIs based on the internal coding standards and guidelines.
• Being able to ensure the code quality with technical tests.
• Theoretical knowledge in data protection and code quality practices.
• General experience with database design and querying.
• Good knowledge to design and implement distributed systems following microservice principles and patterns.
• Solid knowledge to design data models, optimize queries, and manage application data flows.
• Good OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native principles knowledge.
• Experience with Git, Maven, TeamCity/Jenkins, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging platforms would be considered as an advantage.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Helm, or similar automation tools.
• Experience in working in an agile environment and scrum planning process.
• University degree in IT or relevant.
