About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. You'll play a key role in designing and developing robust backend services, secure APIs, and high-performance systems that power business-critical applications.

Main Responsibilities

• Design and develop secure, high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Build and optimise relational (SQL) and NoSQL database solutions using Hibernate or JPA.
• Write clean, reusable, and well-tested Java code using tools such as JUnit.
• Troubleshoot application issues, optimise performance, and improve scalability.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• 4+ years' commercial experience as a Java Backend Developer.
• Strong experience with Core Java, including object-oriented programming, multithreading, and concurrency.
• Excellent knowledge of the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience developing serverless applications using AWS Lambda or Azure Functions (essential).
• Commercial experience developing backend applications or automation using Python (essential).
• Strong understanding of SQL, relational databases, and ORM technologies such as Hibernate or JPA.
• Experience working with Git and modern software development practices.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
