Java Developer / Senior Java Developer - Core Banking

Our client is a well-established banking institution with ongoing investment in its technology platforms and digital transformation. They are looking for an experienced Java / Core Banking Developer to join their technology team.

Job Duties

• Design, develop, enhance and support Core Banking systems running on the OpenShift platform.
• Perform system and solution design in alignment with the bank's technology architecture, with a focus on scalability, maintainability and reusability.
• Handle end-to-end system development based on defined functional and technical specifications.
• Develop and integrate applications using Java, Spring, APIs, Microservices, SQL and JSON/XML technologies.
• Conduct system testing, troubleshoot technical issues and resolve defects identified throughout the development lifecycle.
• Prepare deployment plans and perform system configuration, application deployment and implementation activities.
• Conduct technology risk assessments and peer reviews, and follow up on identified risk findings.
• Ensure system deliverables comply with established programming, security and quality standards.
• Provide ongoing application and production support, including investigation and resolution of system issues.
• Collaborate closely with internal technology teams and business stakeholders throughout the system development lifecycle.

Job Requirements

• Degree or tertiary education in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in banking application development, preferably with exposure to core banking systems.
• Strong hands-on development experience in Java, Spring, API, Microservices, SQL and JSON/XML.
• Solid understanding of enterprise application design and system integration.
• Experience in developing REST APIs and integrating APIs with frontend JavaScript frameworks would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, deployment and production support.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; fluent Mandarin would be an advantage.
