Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Java Engineering Manager to lead software engineering teams in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and modern web technologies such as React.js or Node.js, along with proven experience in people management, technical leadership, and stakeholder management.

The role requires a combination of technical depth, delivery ownership, team development, and the ability to drive engineering excellence across the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Full-Stack Development: Provide technical guidance across backend technologies and frontend frameworks such as React.js or Node.js.
• Architecture & Design: Drive architectural decisions, code quality, scalability, performance optimization, security, and engineering best practices.
• People Management: Manage, mentor, and develop software engineers, technical leads, and team members through regular feedback, performance reviews, and career development.
• Delivery Management: Own sprint planning, estimation, execution, release management, and timely delivery of engineering initiatives.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with product managers, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Agile Practices: Drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies, continuous improvement, and effective collaboration across distributed teams.
• Quality & DevOps: Promote automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, monitoring, and reliable deployment practices.
• Problem Solving: Identify technical risks, resolve complex production issues, and ensure application reliability and operational excellence.
• Team Building: Support recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and the development of a high-performing engineering culture.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot .
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Working knowledge of React.js or Node.js , with an understanding of full-stack application development.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and software architecture principles.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and build tools.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of application security, performance tuning, scalability, and production support.

People & Leadership Skills

• Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
• Strong communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, resolve conflicts, and drive accountability.
• Experience in performance management, talent development, and team capacity planning.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Typically 12-20 years of overall software engineering experience, with relevant experience in engineering management or technical leadership.
• Demonstrated experience leading Java-based application development teams.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale applications in an Agile environment.
• Prior experience managing multiple projects, teams, or technical workstreams is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native application development.
• Experience with observability tools, application monitoring, and production reliability.
• Familiarity with engineering metrics, delivery KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
