Java Lead | Exciting new project | $175K

This is an opportunity for an experienced Java full-stack engineer and technical leader to play a key role in the development and evolution of a critical business system, while helping build the engineering team and drive the adoption of AI.

You'll be approximately 50% hands-on development and 50% technical leadership, so this is ideal for someone who enjoys leading through technical credibility while remaining close to the code.

The opportunity

You'll work closely with Product, Architecture, QA and DevOps to:

• Develop and evolve a key business platform.
• Build modern full-stack applications, APIs, integrations and services.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the engineering team.
• Stay hands-on with coding, design and code reviews.
• Help shape architecture, engineering standards and delivery practices.
• Introduce effective AI-assisted development techniques.
• Help the team identify practical opportunities to use AI within the solution.

About you

We're looking for a strong Java engineer who has naturally moved into technical leadership.

You'll bring:

• Strong commercial Java development experience.
• Good full-stack capability, ideally including React or a similar modern framework.
• Experience with APIs, databases, cloud and modern engineering practices.
• Experience mentoring or technically leading other engineers.
• Strong understanding of architecture, testing, CI/CD and secure development.
• A genuine interest in AI and AI-assisted software development.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and business teams.

Java expertise — .NET opportunity

Strong Java experience is essential. Previous .NET experience isn't.

You'll have the opportunity to learn and work with .NET, broadening your technical capability across both ecosystems.

We're looking for someone who is technically curious, enjoys learning and can apply sound engineering principles across different technologies.
