Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Java Microservices Developer to join our client's banking technology team on a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining scalable microservices and enterprise applications that support critical banking solutions.

This role is ideal for a developer with strong Java and microservices experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working with modern cloud and DevOps technologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, develop, integrate, and enhance new products, services, and processes within existing systems.
• Translate user stories and business requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable microservices.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain microservices-based applications.
• Collaborate effectively with developers, architects, business stakeholders, QA teams, and other cross-functional teams.
• Communicate technical concepts, project updates, issues, and solutions clearly to team members and stakeholders.
• Analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Contribute to technical decision-making and recommend appropriate technologies and methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior developers.
• Adapt to new technologies, tools, development methodologies, and evolving business requirements.
• Promote good software engineering practices, code quality, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Help foster a collaborative and positive team environment focused on achieving project objectives.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience, preferably with strong Java experience.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Java; experience with Python, Go, or Node.js is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, API development, and distributed systems.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to junior developers is an advantage.
• Banking or financial services experience is an advantage.

Preferred Certifications

Relevant certifications are a plus but not required, such as:

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• AWS Certifications
• Postman API Certification
• Other relevant cloud, Kubernetes, DevOps, or API-related certifications
