Java QA Engineer

A typical day might include the following activities:

• Analyze business and technical requirements to understand expected application behavior.
• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test cases for APIs, backend services, and applications.
• Run automated test suites and review execution results.
• Investigate failed test executions and determine whether issues are caused by application defects, automation scripts, environments, configurations, or test data.
• Create detailed defect reports, including logs, evidence, root cause analysis, and steps to reproduce.
• Support functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing activities.
• Maintain and improve existing test automation frameworks and scripts.
• Execute API testing and validate responses, integrations, and business logic.
• Collaborate closely with Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams.
• Contribute to test reporting, quality metrics, and test execution monitoring.
• Learn and understand project-specific applications, technologies, and business processes.
• Utilize AI-powered tools responsibly to improve productivity, automation coverage, troubleshooting, and documentation quality.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the QA process.

To ensure success, you need the following skills:

• 1-3 years of experience in software development, software testing, or quality assurance.
• Good knowledge of Java.
• Understanding of software testing concepts, methodologies, and defect management processes.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
• Basic SQL skills and database querying capabilities.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to investigate and solve issues using a structured approach.
• Experience working with Git or similar version control systems.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Strong ownership mentality, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
• Interest in test automation and quality engineering best practices.
• Ability to leverage AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency, quality, and documentation.

Nice to have:

• Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or REST Assured.
• Experience with Postman and API testing activities.
• Experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar solutions.
• Knowledge of JUnit or TestNG.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
• Experience with Jira, Zephyr, Xray, or similar test management tools.
• Experience analyzing application logs and troubleshooting issues.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and pipelines.
• Basic knowledge of microservices architectures.
• Experience working in banking, payments, financial services, or other regulated environments.
