Java Software Engineer

This is a Hybrid role and candidate will be working from Dublin, Ireland

Looking for an experienced Java Engineer to architect, design, and deliver high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in Java with leadership capabilities, mentoring skills, and a proven track record in design patterns, code quality review, and scalable architecture .

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership & Architecture
2. Lead the design and implementation of complex backend systems using Java.
3. Define software architecture , establish coding standards, and enforce best practices.
4. Drive adoption of design patterns , microservices architecture, and modular code design.
5. Code Quality & Review
6. Conduct comprehensive code reviews to ensure readability, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
7. Identify and mitigate technical debt and potential bugs in ongoing projects.
8. Enforce unit testing, integration testing, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
9. Mentorship & Team Guidance
10. Mentor junior and mid-level developers on Java best practices, patterns, and architecture decisions.
11. Provide technical guidance and oversee team progress to ensure alignment with project goals.
12. Design & Development
13. Implement innovative solutions to complex problems while balancing performance and maintainability.
14. Engage in full software development lifecycle (SDLC) , from requirement analysis to deployment and post-production support.
15. Optimize code for high performance, scalability, and reliability.
16. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
17. Work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.
18. Translate business requirements into sustainable and efficient technical solutions.
19. Participate in sprint planning, project estimation, and resource allocation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Languages & Frameworks: Advanced proficiency in Java , Spring Boot, Hibernate, and related frameworks.
• Design Patterns: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with GoF patterns , SOLID principles , and software design best practices.
• Architecture: Experience designing microservices , RESTful APIs, and scalable server-side architectures.
• Code Quality: Proficiency in code review tools , static code analysis, and CI/CD workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Database & Caching: Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases , caching strategies, and ORM frameworks.
• Testing : Hands-on experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
• Version Control & Workflow: Git expertise and understanding of branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative development processes.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, mentoring abilities, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
