Java Software Engineer

Introduction

Wipro is looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our technology delivery team. As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will design, develop, and support mission-critical enterprise applications across banking, payments, treasury, risk management, and financial services.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, product owners, quality assurance specialists, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing microservices and API-based solutions.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will:

• Lead the design and development of enterprise Java applications, microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven integrations
• Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions
• Champion engineering standards through code reviews, automated testing, performance tuning, and secure development practices
• Support CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, production troubleshooting, and service improvements
• Collaborate across Agile teams while mentoring developers and providing technical leadership on complex initiatives

Mandatory Skills

You will have a strong understanding of:

• Core Java, Java 8 or later, J2EE, multithreading, concurrency, collections, JDBC, object-oriented design, and design patterns
• Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Core, Spring Data, Hibernate, REST APIs, microservices, and SOAP web services
• Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, Kafka, MQ messaging, and event-driven architecture
• Git or Bitbucket, Maven or Gradle, Jenkins, SonarQube, and CI/CD pipelines
• JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Linux or Unix, and application servers such as Tomcat or JBoss

Desirable Skills

Ideally, you will be familiar with:

• Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• AWS or other cloud-native platforms
• API security technologies, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and mutual TLS
• MongoDB or Cassandra
• Banking, payments, ACH, treasury, cash management, or financial services platforms

Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments and distributed delivery models would also be beneficial.
