Java Software Engineer

Monri Payments, founded in 2017, started as a small startup with a bold vision: to simplify and enhance digital payments. As early as 2019, with a team of just 10 employees, Monri developed an omnichannel payment orchestration platform, laying the foundation for rapid growth. Shortly after, Monri further expanded its portfolio by introducing cash register software solutions, becoming a true one-stop shop for business operations in the HoReCa industry.

Today, Monri employs more than 200 people and operates in 10 markets: Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Romania, and Moldova – supporting over 15,000 merchants, with a continuous focus on international expansion.

For its innovations in payments, Monri received a special recognition from Mastercard in 2023 for multi-sensory transaction confirmation, and in 2024 was awarded the “Deloitte Impact Star” recognition for its contribution to business development, society, and sustainability.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer who will be a part of our Monri Payments team.

As a Senior Java Developer you will:

• Work on the development of applications in the field of payment/fintech and high-volume transaction systems

• Develop and deliver robust, scalable, highly available and secure applications using the newest and highest security standards and cryptography.

• Write and maintain product documentation related to the assigned product modules (because self-explanatory code sometimes just isn’t enough :))

• Promote knowledge sharing and innovations by providing education, mentoring, updating knowledge base, documenting gained knowledge and experience, sharing knowledge using verbal communication.

• Work on maintenance of existing functionalities

• Work in teams of experts designing and developing fintech and security solutions used by more than 6000 merchants worldwide.

• Work using up-to-date development processes (Agile, CI/CD, Secure Development, GIT, JIRA, etc.) and modern IDEs (IntelliJ)

• Be part of a young and agile team of developers, business analysts and DevOps.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer science, information technologies, or related preferred but not mandatory

• 5+ years of experience with Java application development

• 5+ years of Experience in Spring Boot/Quarkus

• Experience with Object Oriented programming (Java)

• Experience with RESTful web service

• Experience with application servers (i.e. JBoss, WebSphere, Tomcat) and relational databases (i.e. PostgreSQL, MSSQL)

• Experience with build tools in the Java ecosystem (i.e. Maven, Gradle)

• Strong experience with unit/integration testing

• Drive for achievement against internal or external standards of excellence.

What will make you stand out:

• Experience with reactive programming (preferably Mutiny)

• Experience with Apache Kafka or similiar MQ systems

• Experience with Apache Camel

• Knowledge of continuous integration concepts (i.e. Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)

• Experience with Unix based operating systems (Linux, MacOS).
