Java Solution Architect

We are looking for an experienced Java Solution Architect to support one of Belgium’s leading financial institutions in the design and evolution of its digital banking platforms. You will play a key role in defining the technical architecture of mission-critical applications, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, Product Owners, and development teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and guide engineering teams throughout implementation.

Missions

• Design end-to-end solution architectures for complex Java-based banking applications.

• Define application architectures aligned with business objectives, security requirements, regulatory constraints, and enterprise standards.

• Produce high-level and detailed solution designs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.

• Guide Agile development teams on architectural best practices and technical implementation.

• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture principles and technology standards.

• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to define target architectures and technology roadmaps.

• Review application designs, code quality, and non-functional requirements including performance, security, availability, and maintainability.

• Drive modernization initiatives involving cloud adoption, API-first architecture, microservices, and event-driven solutions.

• Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and technical decision-making processes.

• Identify technical risks and define mitigation strategies throughout project delivery.

• Mentor senior developers and technical leads on architecture and engineering best practices.

Profile Required

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Java software engineering.

• At least 5 years of experience as a Solution Architect.

• Strong expertise in Java 17/21 and Spring technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud).

• Proven experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs, and event-driven architecture (Kafka preferred).

• Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments.

• Experience with build and versioning tools such as Maven, Gradle, and Git.

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also considered).

• Strong understanding of API Gateway solutions and integration patterns.

• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

• Familiarity with modern authentication mechanisms including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT.

• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Dynatrace, or Splunk.

• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevSecOps practices.

• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), API-First Design, and architecture governance frameworks (TOGAF certification is an advantage).

• Fluent English is mandatory.

• Professional working proficiency in French and/or Dutch is considered a strong asset.
