Jig & Fixture Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop jigs and fixtures for new and existing products across various manufacturing and assembly processes.

• Ensure all jigs and fixtures:

• Function correctly and serve their intended purpose

• Support accuracy, repeatability, and inspection requirements

• Continuously improve jig and fixture designs for usability, efficiency, and quality.

• Collaborate with design engineers, production engineers, QC teams, and CI team to resolve jig-related issues.

• Oversee in-house jig fabrication, ensuring compliance with drawings and design intent.

• Manage outsourced jig production and verify:

• Correct manufacturing per drawings

• Proper functionality and tolerance control

• Support production trials, line setup, and process validation

• Prepare technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation for jig & fixture fabrication.

• Research new technologies, materials, and methods to improve fixture design and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.

• Experience in jig & fixture design, preferably in automotive or metal parts manufacturing.

• Hands-on experience with welding jigs, assembly fixtures, and checking fixtures (CF jigs).

• Understanding of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and QC inspection processes.

• Strong knowledge of datum concepts, tolerancing, and inspection-friendly fixture design principles.

• Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), with ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• Comfortable working on the shop floor with a hands-on approach.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

• Good teamwork, communication, and attention to detail, with ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
