What they need

Role summary

Were looking for a Jira Developer to design, build, and maintain Atlassian Jira solutions that improve delivery workflows, visibility, and governance. You’ll partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to implement automation, custom scripting, integrations, and reporting while ensuring security, performance, and maintainability.

Key responsibilities

  • Configure and extend Jira projects, workflows, screens, issue types, fields, permissions, and notifications.

  • Build custom solutions using:

  • Atlassian Forge and/or Atlassian Connect

  • Jira REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication (OAuth/API tokens)

  • Develop scripted automations and extensions using Groovy (commonly via ScriptRunner or equivalent tooling, where used).

  • Build integrations and automation services using Python (e.g., calling Jira APIs, processing events, syncing data with other platforms).

  • Create and maintain dashboards, filters, JQL queries, and operational reporting.

  • Integrate Jira with Confluence, Bitbucket/GitHub, CI/CD tools, chat/notification tools, IT service tools, and identity providers (SSO).

  • Troubleshoot configuration and integration issues; perform root-cause analysis and improve performance/reliability.

  • Manage environments (dev/test/prod), releases, change control, and documentation; provide admin/user enablement.

  • Apply security best practices (least privilege, auditability, data handling, retention) in configurations and integrations.

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years in Jira administration and/or development (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong JQL, workflow design, and Jira configuration expertise (schemes, permissions, notifications).
  • Hands-on experience with Jira REST APIs and building integrations.
  • Proficiency in Groovy for Jira scripting/automation (e.g., ScriptRunner-style patterns).
  • Proficiency in Python for API integrations, automation jobs, and data/reporting pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban), SDLC, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Jira Service Management (SLAs, queues, request types, knowledge base).
  • Experience with Jira Cloud and Data Center differences, migrations, and app compatibility.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience with integration middleware (e.g., iPaaS), event-driven architectures, or message queues.
  • Atlassian certifications (Jira Administration) are a plus.
