Journeyman Ironworker

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Ironworker to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining structural steel and metal frameworks on various construction sites. Your expertise will ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to accurately execute fabrication and installation tasks.
• Measure, cut, weld, and assemble metal components using various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding).
• Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment to shape and assemble metal materials with precision.
• Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, shop math skills, and measuring tapes to ensure accurate fabrication according to specifications.
• Install structural steel frameworks using cranes and other heavy machinery while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Fabricate sheet metal components and perform metal materials handling with a focus on quality control and safety standards aligned with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
• Collaborate with team members to interpret technical drawings, perform assembly tasks, and execute construction site activities efficiently.

Requirements

• Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of structural steel installation and metal fabrication processes.
• Demonstrated proficiency in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints accurately.
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication work.
• Mechanical knowledge of construction equipment including cranes and power tools required for heavy lifting and assembly tasks.
• Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, plasma cutting, machining, and assembly in a fabrication shop environment preferred.
• Adherence to safety protocols at all times while working on construction sites or in fabrication shops.
• Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations involved in fabrication tasks.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 55.0 per week
