JRMS Homebound Instructor

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide educational support to students who are unable to attend school due to medical or other qualifying reasons. The Homebound Instructor will work part-time at John Read Middle School, delivering personalized instruction and ensuring that students continue to make academic progress in a supportive and engaging environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of each student.
• Conduct one-on-one instructional sessions in a variety of subjects, ensuring alignment with the school curriculum and educational standards.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their academic goals.
• Communicate regularly with students’ families, teachers, and school administration to discuss progress and address any concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of instructional sessions, student progress, and any communication with families and staff.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate the unique challenges faced by homebound students.
• Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
• Attend professional development sessions and staff meetings as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience, particularly with middle school students, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a home-based instructional setting.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed academically.
• Familiarity with educational technology and online teaching tools is a plus.
• Must pass a background check and comply with all school district policies and procedures.
