What they need

Junior Account Manager

FurnitureDealer.Net
Burnsville, Minnesota
Full-time, in-office position
No prior professional experience required

About the Opportunity

FurnitureDealer.Net is looking for an ambitious, business-minded person who wants to begin a career in client strategy, digital marketing, and account management.

This is an entry-level position, but it is not a low-responsibility position. You will be expected to learn quickly, take ownership of your work, communicate professionally, and grow into meaningful responsibility. In return, you will receive hands-on training, direct mentorship, exposure to business owners and senior decision-makers, and the opportunity to develop a valuable combination of business, technology, communication, and leadership skills.

This is a genuinely entry-level professional opportunity. We do not require previous experience in account management, digital marketing, technology, or the furniture industry. We are prepared to train the right person and give them meaningful responsibility as they develop.

With training and support, you will work on real client accounts, contribute to meaningful business decisions, and build practical skills in account management, digital strategy, professional communication, project coordination, and problem solving. As your capabilities grow, you will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility, deepen your client relationships, and build a long-term career with FurnitureDealer.Net.

About FurnitureDealer.Net

FurnitureDealer.Net is a full-service website provider for independent furniture stores. We build, manage, and continually improve our clients’ websites, serving as an ongoing digital partner rather than simply delivering a website and leaving the retailer to manage it alone.

Our services include website design and development, product catalog management, content publishing, digital merchandising, ecommerce tools, search-engine optimization, integrations, technical support, and ongoing strategic guidance. This allows furniture retailers to maintain a strong and effective online presence without building a large internal website and digital-marketing team.

We currently serve more than 100 independent furniture retailers. These businesses compete against Amazon, national chains, and large online sellers with far greater resources. Our job is to help them use their websites to communicate what makes them valuable, including knowledgeable service, inspiring showrooms, local inventory, financing, delivery, interior-design assistance, and lasting customer relationships.

We are a hardworking team of business-oriented problem solvers. We value curiosity, accountability, humility, thoughtful communication, and a genuine desire to help clients and teammates succeed.

The Junior Account Manager Role

As a Junior Account Manager, you will help furniture retailers get the greatest possible value from the full-service website relationship we provide. You will begin by working closely with experienced team leads to learn our platform, our services, our clients’ businesses, and the furniture industry.

As your knowledge and judgment develop, you will take increasing ownership of client relationships. You will eventually become the primary point of contact for approximately 25 to 30 furniture stores, helping each client identify priorities, improve its website, and coordinate work across the different FDN teams that support the account.

This is not simply a customer-service or task-management position. Because we provide a broad range of ongoing website services, clients rely on their account manager to understand their business goals, recognize opportunities, and help determine what work will have the greatest impact. A client may ask for a particular website change, but your responsibility is to understand the objective behind the request, evaluate the available options, explain the tradeoffs clearly, and help move the best solution forward.

You will work with furniture-store owners, marketing leaders, merchants, advertising agencies, and our internal publishing, design, development, and support teams. You will need to build strong relationships, understand each client’s priorities, and turn those priorities into practical plans and completed work.

What You Will Gain

This role is designed to provide an unusually broad foundation for someone early in their career. You will gain:

  • Structured training in our website platform, digital merchandising tools, client operations, and the furniture retail industry
  • Direct mentorship from experienced team leaders as you develop the knowledge and confidence to advise clients independently
  • Exposure to business owners and senior decision-makers discussing marketing, merchandising, operations, ecommerce, customer experience, and growth
  • Practical experience in account management, digital strategy, analytics, SEO, project coordination, problem solving, and professional communication
  • Opportunities to take on greater ownership as you demonstrate your ability to learn, make sound decisions, and follow through
  • A chance to help shape your role over time based on your strengths, interests, and the needs of the business

We are asking for substantial effort and commitment because we intend to make a substantial investment in the person we hire. The goal is not simply to fill an entry-level seat. The goal is to help someone develop into a trusted business advisor who can build a meaningful long-term career with us.

What You Will Do

  • Learn our platform and become a trusted resource on its tools, capabilities, and performance
  • Build strong relationships with clients and understand the goals, challenges, and priorities of their businesses
  • Help clients identify opportunities to improve their websites and overall digital strategies
  • Translate business needs into clear recommendations, action plans, and internal projects
  • Coordinate with internal teams, communicate timelines, and help ensure commitments are completed accurately and on time
  • Explain technical concepts, options, and tradeoffs in language that nontechnical decision-makers can understand
  • Handle difficult questions and occasionally tense client conversations with patience, professionalism, and respect for the relationship
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency when a client has an important problem
  • Contribute to team and company projects beyond your assigned accounts when your skills and perspective can help
  • Travel to at least two furniture-industry markets or events each year

What Success Requires

We are not expecting you to arrive with years of experience. We are looking for the habits and potential that make strong performance possible.

Curiosity and business interest

You enjoy learning how companies work, asking thoughtful questions, and understanding what drives results. You should find business problems interesting and want to learn why one approach works better than another.

Accountability

You take ownership of your commitments, communicate early when circumstances change, and follow through without needing repeated reminders.

Attention to detail

Our platform has many moving parts, and small mistakes can affect a client’s business. You should care about accuracy, check your work, and recognize that getting something 95 percent right may not be sufficient.

Clear communication

You can organize complicated information, explain options simply, and adjust your communication for different audiences. You should be comfortable communicating timelines, limitations, and difficult information professionally.

Comfort with technology

This is not a programming position, but it is more technical than a typical account-management role. You should enjoy learning sophisticated software and working with digital tools and data.

A bias toward action

You can make progress in an entrepreneurial environment, seek direction when you need it, and avoid waiting passively for someone to define every next step.

Humility and resilience

You can receive direct constructive feedback, apply it, and remain focused on improving the work. You do not need to know everything, but you must be willing to learn.

A service mindset

You care about helping clients and teammates succeed. You understand that strong professional relationships are built by being reliable, thoughtful, useful, and enjoyable to work with.

Helpful, but Not Required

Experience with any of the following would be useful, but none is required:

  • Google Analytics or other digital analytics tools
  • Basic SEO, ecommerce, or digital marketing concepts
  • Excel and working with business data
  • Creating presentations or client-facing materials
  • Customer service, account management, retail, or business operations
  • Graphic design and web page creation skills
  • Furniture industry experience

Who is Likely to Thrive Here

This role may be a strong fit if you:

  • Want meaningful responsibility early in your career
  • Enjoy solving problems that do not always have an obvious answer
  • Are motivated by learning, growth, accomplishment, and becoming excellent at your work
  • Appreciate direct feedback and high expectations when they are accompanied by support and investment
  • Want to understand how businesses operate, not simply complete a list of assigned tasks
  • Prefer working closely with a team in person
  • Are interested in building a long-term role rather than collecting short-term experience

This role may not be a good fit if you want a remote or hybrid position, prefer tightly defined work with limited client interaction, or are primarily looking for a temporary resume-building opportunity.

We want to invest deeply in the person we hire. Because the training and relationships involved require a significant investment from both sides, we are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in growing with the company over time.

Your First 12 Weeks

Every new hire begins with a paid 12-week introductory period. The purpose is mutual: you will learn how we work and decide whether this is an environment where you can thrive, while we evaluate your learning, judgment, communication, reliability, and fit with the team.

During this period, you will:

  • Receive structured training on the furniture industry, our platform, and the tools used by the client-relations team
  • Work alongside experienced team members on real client needs and important internal projects
  • Learn how our clients make money and how our work supports their business goals
  • Demonstrate your ability to learn, ask good questions, accept feedback, communicate clearly, and follow through

If the introductory period confirms a strong mutual fit, you will be offered a continuing full-time position. Your annual compensation will increase by at least $2,000, and you will become eligible for additional benefits, including our 401(k) plan with a 3% company match, year-end profit sharing, and a company-provided smartphone and plan.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting compensation

Starting total compensation is $41,900 per year. This consists of a $35,000 base salary and $6,900 per year ($575 per month) in benefits compensation.

Health benefits

You can choose to either apply your monthly health benefits amount toward your health insurance through our company’s ICHRA, or you can keep it as additional salary compensation. Complete plan details will be provided during the interview process.

Paid time off

After completing the introductory period, employees receive 10 paid vacation days and six paid holidays of their choosing each calendar year.

Additional benefits and perks include:

  • Flexible scheduling
  • Company-provided lunches, coffee, and snacks
  • On-site fitness room and laundry room
  • Paid and unpaid family leave
  • Company-paid financial advising services
  • Company-paid tax preparation and planning services
  • 401(k) eligibility with a 3 percent company match after the introductory period
  • Year-end profit-sharing eligibility after the introductory period
