Junior Accountant

Anchorage Shipping is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated *Junior Accountant* to support the Finance & Accounts department. The candidate will assist with daily accounting operations, bookkeeping, invoicing, reconciliations, payments, and financial record maintenance while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial documentation.

* Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.

* Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and journal entries.

* Assist with *Accounts Payable (AP)* and *Accounts Receivable (AR)* activities.

* Follow up on outstanding customer payments and maintain receivable records.

* Verify supplier invoices and supporting documents before processing payments.

* Perform regular bank, supplier, and customer account reconciliations.

* Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and accounting schedules.

* Maintain proper filing of invoices, receipts, contracts, and other financial documents.

* Support payroll-related accounting activities and expense recording.

* Assist with petty cash management and expense verification.

* Ensure proper recording and classification of company expenses.

* Assist in VAT-related documentation, calculations, and record keeping in accordance with UAE requirements.

* Coordinate with other departments to obtain required financial documents and approvals.

* Assist senior accountants with month-end and year-end closing activities.

* Identify discrepancies in financial records and report them to the Senior Accountant/Finance Manager.

* Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.

* Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in *Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field*.

* 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in shipping, logistics, or trading is an advantage.

* Good understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.

* Knowledge of *Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliation, invoicing, and VAT*.

* Good command of *MS Excel* and accounting software.

* Strong numerical and analytical skills.

* Good attention to detail and accuracy.

* Ability to organize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

* Good communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

* UAE experience is preferred.

Preferred Skills

* Knowledge of UAE VAT and basic tax compliance.

* Experience with accounting/ERP software.

* Strong Excel skills, including formulas and data management.

* Understanding of shipping/logistics-related invoices and documentation.

* Good problem-solving and reconciliation skills

Pay: AED1,800.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
