Junior backend developer intern

About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Junior Backend Developer Intern to join our engineering team. This is an entry-level position ideal for students, fresh graduates, or self-taught programmers looking to gain hands-on industry experience building scalable server-side applications and APIs. You will work alongside experienced backend developers, contribute to real-world projects, write clean code, and learn modern software development and architecture practices in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient backend code (Python/Node.js/etc.) under the guidance of senior developers.
• Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and server-side logic.
• Work with databases to design schemas, write queries, and optimize data storage and retrieval.
• Collaborate with the team to analyze project requirements and brainstorm technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to receive constructive feedback and improve coding standards.
• Maintain basic technical documentation for developed APIs, database schemas, and code modules.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic understanding of backend programming concepts, data structures, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Familiarity with building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with database concepts (SQL, relational databases, or basic NoSQL).
• Familiarity with basic Git workflows (commit, push, pull, branching).
• Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical coding experience/bootcamp.

Nice-to-Have (Optional)

• Familiarity with backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django, Flask, or Node.js/Express).
• Exposure to caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis) or message queues.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or containerization (Docker).
• Familiarity with Linux environments or basic command-line usage.
