Junior Beekeeper

Start your beekeeping career with Cambridge Bee Products. If you have experience in farming, agriculture, forestry, animal handling, machinery, tree felling, or other practical outdoor work, this is an opportunity to bring those skills into a role with clear training, mentoring, and career progression.

Cambridge Bee Products, a business unit of Prolife Foods, has operated for more than 25 years and is based in Pukekura, Cambridge. Our hives are located across the central North Island, including the Waikato, and are supported by our Cambridge extraction plant, which processes the honey harvested over summer.

In this role, you will:

·  Care for the health, performance, and harvest of honey hives across farms, forestry blocks, and remote sites

·  Stay active and work outdoors in a practical, hands-on role

·  Learn about the honey making process from hive management to collecting and extracting of honey

·  Learn how site conditions, weather, timing, and hive management affect honey yield

·  Assess hive health and identify work required

·  Move hives between sites and access remote areas by 4x4

·  Support hive movements, including helicopter work where required

·  Learn from experienced senior beekeepers and work through our training matrix from junior beekeeper toward senior beekeeper

Capability and Skills:

Experience: none required, we are really happy to train an enthusiastic beginner!

Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy hive boxes (up to 25kg) repeatedly and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Resilience: Comfortable working around bees and wearing a full protective bee suit daily. Must not be allergic to bee stings.

Driver's Licence: A full, current driver's licence valid to drive in New Zealand required. Any other licence would be an advantage.

This is a permanent full time, year round role. There will be seasonal peaks to the role, but you are guaranteed this is not a seasonal contract!
