Job Overview
Med-Prov, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Data Analyst to support a federal financial regulator’s data analytics and data quality programs. In this role, you will join a team of analysts and data scientists who turn large, market datasets into reliable analysis, dashboards, and reports that support market oversight, surveillance, risk assessment, and compliance work. Your analytical mindset and attention to detail will help ensure that government staff can trust and act on the data in front of them. This paid, on-site position in Washington, DC offers an excellent opportunity to build hands-on experience with financial derivatives data, enterprise-scale databases, and cloud analytics tools while learning from senior analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with government staff to gather, document, and clarify requirements for analytics projects, and translate them into design documents.
  • Clean, standardize, filter, and link large datasets from multiple sources to prepare them for analysis and reporting.
  • Build reports, dashboards, and visualizations that present data in clear, meaningful, and actionable ways.
  • Profile and monitor data streams to identify, log, and investigate data quality issues related to completeness, uniqueness, timeliness, validity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Help write validation logic and programs using SAS, SQL, and/or Python to test historical and incoming data against specifications.
  • Support data quality scorecards and dashboards that track quality trends across data streams.
  • Write, run, and optimize SQL queries to support complex data requests.
  • Test your work thoroughly, document results, and prepare user instructions and project close-out documentation.
  • Submit weekly status updates and keep project documents and source code organized in version-controlled repositories.
  • Contribute lessons learned and ideas for process improvements to the broader team.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a data analyst (full-time, part-time, or internship).
  • Experience using data analysis tools or languages such as SQL, SAS, Python, or R.
  • Experience with business analysis, including planning design sessions, gathering requirements, and converting them into design documents.
  • Ability to work well with team members and communicate clearly in writing and in person.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation; U.S. work authorization required, with employment eligibility verified through E-Verify.
  • Preferred: exposure to financial, trading, or regulatory data such as swaps, futures, options, or clearing data.
  • Preferred: experience with SQL Server (SSMS/SSIS), AWS, or other cloud data environments.
  • Preferred: experience with BI and visualization tools such as AWS QuickSight or MicroStrategy.
  • Preferred: familiarity with advanced Excel, SharePoint, or version control tools.
