Junior Drainage Foreman

We're looking for a Junior Drainage Foreman to join a growing Christchurch drainage team. You don’t need to have years of foreman experience behind you – we’re looking for someone with the right attitude, a solid grounding in drainage, and the ambition to step up and learn how to lead a crew.

This is a permanent role on wages directly with our client.

The role:

These guys have been around for more than 50 years and have built a strong reputation across New Zealand for quality work and great service. Their Christchurch drainage division is growing, with a solid pipeline of commercial and minor civil work already locked in. The team is looking to bring someone through who can become an important part of that growth.

As a Junior Foreman, you’ll still be hands-on, but you’ll start taking on more responsibility. You’ll learn how to organise and run crews, understand what’s required to keep jobs moving, communicate with managers and clients, read plans, and eventually take ownership of your own projects. You’ll be working around excavators from 1.7T through to 20T, so some operating experience is important. You’ll also need to be comfortable digging around services and working in commercial environments.

What we’re looking for:

• Registered Drainlayer, or close to gaining your registration
• Solid experience across commercial and minor civil drainage
• WTR licence and some practical machine operating experience
• Someone who is keen to start taking responsibility
• Good communicator and a team player
• A switched-on attitude and willingness to learn
