Junior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a locally based Electrical Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of our Bermuda Depot. The role involves assisting with the testing, maintenance, storage and movement of electrical equipment, cable plant and associated machinery.

The successful candidate will help ensure equipment remains operational, compliant and ready for use, while supporting general depot maintenance activities in accordance with company safety procedures and operational requirements.

Applicants must currently have the legal right to live and work in Bermuda. Preference will be given to suitably qualified Bermudian, spouse of Bermudian and Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) holder applicants, in accordance with Bermuda immigration and employment requirements. This role may be particularly suitable for college leavers or recent graduates who have completed an Electrical Engineering qualification and are looking to develop practical, hands-on industry experience. However, applications are welcome from all candidates who can demonstrate the required skills, qualifications and experience.

Key Deliverables:

• Assisting and testing of fibre optic and electrical tests of customer owned stock cables.
• Maintain site electrical equipment, ensuring it is safe to use and PAT Tested where applicable.
• Maintain electronic records and databases associated with all depot activities.
• The safe execution of any duties that may be required in the storage, movement and disposal of submersible plant as required by cable maintenance and Marine Plant & Storage Facility, Bermuda agreements.
• The operation and maintenance of cable machinery, lifting equipment and any other machinery associated with the movement of cable and plant as directed by the Bermuda Cable Technician.
• Perform operations in accordance with the statutory Global Marine Systems Ltd safety policies or general procedures.
• Ability to direct others during operations (Toolbox Talks, task coordination).

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Electrical Installation (Level 3).
• Good organisational skills and ability to work on one’s own initiative.
• Working knowledge of health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Computing skill required in database management, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Willingness to work flexible hours / shift patterns to support 24/7 operations.

Desired :

• Basic Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Working Safely or equivalent).

Location: On-site 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) at Bermuda Depot. This role will require occasional evening and weekend shifts paid with overtime for any additional hours worked.
