Junior Electrical Engineer

Role Description The Junior Electrical Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems for medical facilities and equipment, ensuring compliance with standards and safety regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in electrical design drawings, performing basic calculations, supporting power distribution layouts, and contributing to the integration of electrical systems within healthcare projects. The role involves coordinating with senior engineers, technical teams, and suppliers to gather requirements, review technical documentation, and help resolve on-site electrical issues. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt, requiring regular visits to hospitals, clinics, and project locations as needed. The position offers opportunities to learn from experienced engineers and gain practical exposure to advanced healthcare technologies.

Job Responsibilities

• Review and interpret electrical drawings, layouts, and technical specifications for hospital projects and medical facilities.
• Supervise and follow up on electrical installation works at project sites, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with project managers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and other technical teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution panels, lighting, power outlets, earthing, and cable routing.
• Follow up on electrical works related to operating rooms, ICUs, and other hospital departments in coordination with the relevant project teams.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure the quality of electrical installations and identify and resolve technical issues.
• Prepare technical reports, site progress reports, and material requirements as needed.
• Review material submittals, technical documents, and shop drawings in coordination with the project team.
• Ensure that all electrical works comply with applicable electrical codes, project requirements, and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors regarding electrical materials, equipment, and installation activities.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, and handover activities to ensure that completed works meet project specifications.
• Follow up on project schedules and report any delays, technical challenges, or deviations to the direct manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Basic knowledge of electrical cost estimation and pricing.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, material cost calculation, and reviewing supplier quotations.
• Previous experience in preparing quotations and cost estimates is an advantage.
• Experience in electrical installations and site supervision is preferred.
• Experience in building or infrastructure projects, preferably hospitals or healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of electrical design, power distribution systems, load analysis, and protection coordination.
• Familiarity with relevant local and international electrical codes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant electrical design software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Good command of English; knowledge of Arabic and MENA regional standards is an advantage.
• Relevant professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
