What they need

Learn a practical skill. Work with your hands. Build your experience.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location: Workshop-based

Experience: No previous professional experience required

Training: Full training provided

About the role

Enjoy taking things apart, fixing things or working on practical projects? Turn that interest into hands-on workshop experience.

We’re looking for a practical, enthusiastic and reliable person to join our team and learn how to repair automotive electronic units.

No engineering qualifications needed. No diagnosing complicated faults. You’ll follow established repair guides, with training and support while you learn.

What you’ll be doing

Taking units apart using basic hand tools.

Following step-by-step guides to carry out routine repairs.

Learning to solder and replace specified components.

Checking your workmanship and carefully reassembling units.

Keeping your tools, parts and workbench organised.

You’ll be working with used automotive parts, so expect some dirt and grease. The mechanical work is generally straightforward—removing covers, undoing a few bolts and putting everything back together correctly.

What we’re looking for

A practical mindset — you enjoy working with your hands.

Attention to detail — you take care with small parts and follow instructions.

Willingness to learn — you listen to guidance and ask when you’re unsure.

Reliability — you turn up ready to work and contribute to the team.

Pride in your work — you want to get the job done properly.

An interest in electronics, building computers, fixing things or similar hobbies would be useful. Previous soldering or repair experience is a bonus, not a requirement.

What you’ll get

Full training in our tools, units and repair processes.

Practical technical skills in soldering, dismantling, reassembly and quality checks.

A 35-hour working week, with weekends free.

Support while you learn — get the quality right first, then build your speed.

Work with visible results — help return faulty automotive units to service.

Free bacon rolls on Fridays — because our technicians don’t run on electricity.

How to apply

Send us your CV or a short introduction telling us:

Why the role interests you.

Anything you’ve built, repaired or enjoyed working on—even a hobby project counts.

You don’t need a long CV. We’re looking for the right approach and an interest in learning.

Pay: £19,800.00-£23,000.00 per year
