Junior Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Engineer to join our engineering and maintenance team at our Miri, Sarawak facility. This is a contract position offering an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to develop their career within the oil and gas sector. As a Junior Engineer, you will work alongside experienced professionals to support the design, implementation and maintenance of engineering systems and equipment. This role is integral to ensuring operational excellence and adherence to industry safety standards across our facilities. You will gain valuable hands-on experience in a challenging and rewarding environment whilst contributing to critical oil and gas operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of engineering solutions for oil and gas operations and infrastructure
• Support the installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspection activities on equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance
• Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, drawings and engineering reports
• Perform calculations and analysis to support engineering projects and operational requirements
• Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations
• Assist in training and mentoring sessions to develop technical knowledge and competencies
• Support the maintenance team in scheduling and planning preventative maintenance activities
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely procurement of equipment and materials

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics relevant to oil and gas operations
• Knowledge of maintenance practices and equipment commonly used in onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities
• Proficiency in engineering software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• A valid professional engineering license or the commitment to obtain one is advantageous
• Familiarity with health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations within the oil and gas industry
• Ability to work shift patterns and respond to operational requirements as needed
• Prior experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or related heavy industrial environments is highly desirable
