JUNIOR ENGINEER ELECTRICAL (DATA CENTRE)

About the role

MN Power Transmission Sdn Bhd is seeking a Junior Site/Project Engineer Electrical (Data Centre) to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a contract position based in Kapar, Selangor. In this role, you will support the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems specifically for data centre operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers to ensure reliable power delivery and infrastructure that meets the stringent requirements of modern data centre environments. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in a specialised field within the construction and power transmission industry.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and planning of electrical systems for data centre infrastructure projects
• Support the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment, including power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and backup generators
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess electrical requirements and identify potential challenges
• Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and reports related to electrical installations
• Monitor and test electrical systems to ensure they meet operational standards and safety requirements
• Collaborate with project teams to troubleshoot electrical issues and implement solutions
• Maintain accurate records of equipment specifications, maintenance schedules, and performance metrics
• Support compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations specific to data centre operations
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer activities within the engineering team

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or current pursuit of professional engineering credentials
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and circuit design principles
• Knowledge of data centre infrastructure, cooling systems, and redundancy requirements
• Familiarity with electrical safety standards, including IEC, IEEE, and local Malaysian regulations
• Proficiency in using CAD software and electrical design tools
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Experience with data centre projects or similar infrastructure work is highly desirable
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems or power quality management is a plus
