WE'RE HIRING: JUNIOR ESTIMATOR – ABNORMAL LOADS

Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

Salary: R15 000 – R20 000 per month (slightly negotiable)

An established company within the transport and logistics industry is looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented and commercially minded Junior Estimator – Abnormal Loads to join its Durban team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate costings and competitive quotations for abnormal load road transport, ensuring all transport requirements, equipment, permits and associated costs are considered.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong numerical ability, excellent attention to detail and previous experience in sales, estimating or transport-related costings.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming customer enquiries and quotation requests.
• Liaise with clients to establish load specifications, collection and delivery points, routes and transport requirements.
• Identify suitable vehicles, trailers and equipment required for abnormal load transportation.
• Consider cargo dimensions, transport regulations and permit requirements.
• Prepare accurate trip costings, including vehicles, trailers, equipment, drivers, permits, escorts and standing time.
• Calculate additional transport costs and ensure all relevant expenses are included.
• Prepare and submit competitive quotations for approval.
• Follow up on quotations, respond to client queries and assist with negotiations.
• Maintain accurate customer information, quotations and costings on the Odoo ERP system.
• Coordinate with the Technical Sales Consultant and Operations team regarding confirmed jobs.
• Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries and maintain professional client relationships.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12.
• 2–5 years' experience in sales, estimating or a related role.
• Experience within transport, logistics, abnormal loads or heavy haulage would be highly advantageous.
• Strong numerical ability and experience preparing quotations and costings.
• Good understanding of transport operations, vehicle types and associated costs would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Excellent attention to detail, planning and organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer-focused, proactive and able to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple enquiries and meet deadlines.
