Employer: 2JCP
Location: Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida (US Hub)
Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 USD per year
Travel: Up to 50%, including domestic and international sites
Company Description
2JCP specializes in designing and manufacturing advanced solutions for gas-fired and clean energy projects. With decades of industry experience and a global presence, we provide end-to-end engineering services, including design, fabrication, installation, and ongoing support. We excel in technologies such as gas turbines, energy transition solutions, green hydrogen, carbon capture, modular systems, and pressure vessels. Our expertise spans the energy, industrial, and chemical sectors, ensuring innovative and reliable outcomes for our clients’ energy projects.
Summary
The Junior Field Engineer acts as the primary on-site technical representative for 2JCP with EPC contractors and OEM clients. This role owns site assessments, installation support, troubleshooting, and client training on gas turbine and clean energy equipment. The Junior Field Engineer works independently across multiple U.S. project sites, manages competing field priorities, and coordinates issues back to engineering, operations, and commercial teams. When not in the field, the role supports project execution, documentation, and technical problem-solving from the Jax hub.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as 2JCP’s on-site technical lead with EPC contractors, OEM clients, and site stakeholders during surveys, deliveries, installation, and commissioning support.
• Plan and execute site assessments to evaluate readiness, identify risks, and confirm compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards.
• Provide independent on-site technical support, including troubleshooting equipment and systems, interpreting specifications and drawings, and resolving issues that would otherwise delay the job.
• Coordinate logistics, equipment deliveries, punch-list items, and field-to-office communication so sites stay covered without pulling other team members off their assignments.
• Deliver training to clients and site personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices.
• Produce clear field reports, survey notes, technical drawings, and documentation that the rest of the team can act on.
• Gather and analyze field data, identify recurring issues, and work with engineering and operations to implement corrections.
• Escalate commercial, schedule, or technical risks early, with a recommended path forward.
• Support office-based project work between site trips, including design support, testing coordination, and project tracking.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct reports. It does require independent judgment on site and the ability to direct contractor or client personnel on 2JCP scope when needed.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on field experience.
• Typically 2–5 years of field engineering, field service, commissioning, or site support experience in power generation, gas turbines, heavy industrial equipment, or similar energy systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on active construction or operating sites.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and OEM standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; valid passport required for international travel.
• OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; background check required.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project); CAD proficiency preferred.
Competencies
• Independence: Owns assigned sites and knows when to escalate.
• Problem solving: Diagnoses issues quickly and drives a practical resolution.
• Communication: Writes clear field reports and speaks plainly with clients and contractors.
• Technical proficiency: Applies gas turbine and energy-system knowledge in the field.
• Adaptability: Handles changing site schedules, competing priorities, and travel.
• Initiative: Anticipates coverage gaps and acts before work snowballs.
• Teamwork: Coordinates cleanly with the Jax hub, UK/EU counterparts, and site partners.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hand and finger dexterity.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
• Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, elevated work, fumes, airborne particles, or extreme weather.
• Must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and continually lift up to 10 pounds.
• Work is performed at industrial facilities, construction sites, and remote power-plant locations, as well as in the office between trips.
• Must follow site safety protocols and use required PPE, inspection tools, laptops, vehicles, and diagnostic equipment.
