This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to build a strong foundation in finance. The role will begin with hands-on responsibility for core financial processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and monthly close, while providing increasing exposure to financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning.

We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical, highly organized and excited to learn. This is a role with meaningful room to grow for the right person.

Responsibilities

  1. Accounts Payable
  • Review, code and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system
  • Verify invoice accuracy and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding items
  1. Accounts Receivable
  • Apply customer payments and maintain accurate customer account records
  • Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collection efforts
  • Research and resolve customer payment discrepancies
  • Prepare customer account reconciliations as needed
  • Support credit memo and deduction tracking processes
  1. Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Support the monthly close process and preparation of management reporting
  • Assist with account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Help maintain accurate and timely financial information across the business
  • Develop an understanding of the company's accounting and reporting processes
  1. Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Support quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting and long-range planning
  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc financial analyses for senior management
  • Analyze actual results versus budget and forecast and investigate key variances
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and presentations for management
  • Develop an understanding of the key financial and operating drivers of the business
  1. Special Projects
  • Support cross-functional finance and operational projects as needed
  • Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field
  • 0–1 years of experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modeling is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally
  • Prior internship experience in finance, accounting, FP&A or a consumer business is a plus
  • Experience or interest in retail, fashion, e-commerce or consumer products is a plus

Preferred Characteristics

  • Curious and eager to learn
  • Self-starter who can work independently after initial training
  • Reliable and process-oriented
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of transactions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and follow-through
  • Interested in understanding the "why" behind the numbers, not just processing them
  • Excited to grow within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment

Employment Type

  • Reporting to: VP of Finance & Operations
  • Work type: New York, NY (full-time and in-office)
  • Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 per year, commensurate with experience
