What they need

Polytra, part of the Fracht Group, has been offering customer-oriented logistics services since 1974. From our head office in Berchem (Antwerp) we move general cargo, project cargo and everything in between — by sea, road, rail and air, for customers across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. We keep investing in digitisation to make that work run smoother. Behind us stands the Fracht Group: family-owned since 1955, with more than 150 offices in over 50 countries and 2,500 colleagues.

Polytra keeps growing, and that growth creates room for people who take ownership. We work with an entrepreneurial spirit, we take our responsibility seriously, and we enjoy the work while we do it. Respect, integrity and empathy are not posters on our wall — they are how we deal with customers, with colleagues and with the people who apply here.

Function

Our General Cargo team handles a high volume of ocean import files. We are looking for a Junior Freight Forwarder who wants to learn the trade from the ground up: you start on standard files with an experienced colleague beside you, and take on more as you grow.

THE ROLE

Files & documentation

► You handle standard ocean import files from booking to closing.

► You enter and manage orders in the forwarding system.

► You check shipping and customs documents — reviewed together with you at first.

Carriers & partners

► You book and follow up with shipping lines, transport partners and agents.

► You monitor arrivals, deliveries and exceptions.

► You keep daily contact with customers and partners.

Growing into the role

► You ask when something is unclear — that is how files stay correct.

► You take on more complex files as your experience grows.

Profile

WHAT YOU BRING

► A logistics degree, or a first year of experience in forwarding.

► Dutch and English, spoken and written.

► Accuracy: in import, a detail is rarely just a detail.

► The willingness to ask, and the willingness to learn.

Nice to have, not a must

► Familiar with ocean freight and customs terms.

► Comfortable working in a digital system all day.

► French.

Not ticking every box yet? That is the point of a junior role. If you have the degree or the first year and you want to learn this properly, apply. Everyone here started with their first file.

Offer

THE WORK ITSELF

► Ocean import files that are yours from booking to delivery, from day one.

► An organisation that keeps investing in digitisation and better systems.

YOUR START

► A buddy for your first weeks — a colleague whose job it is to make sure you land well, not to squeeze you in between their own files.

► A structured onboarding, “Your Start @ Polytra”, so you know in week one who does what and where things are.

► A manager who makes time in the first months, and an HR team you can reach directly.

YOUR GROWTH

► Training on the job and through the Fracht Group learning platform.

► A clear path towards handling files independently — we tell you what the next step looks like.

YOUR PACKAGE

► A salary in line with your experience.

► Meal vouchers, hospitalisation insurance and a group insurance plan, a mobile phone and a laptop, and a net expense allowance.

► A CBA 90 bonus (cao 90) — the collective bonus, taxed advantageously, that pays out when we reach the company targets we set together.

► Hybrid working and flexible hours

Our offices on the 15th floor of “Building Verzicht” look out over the city, are a short walk from Berchem station and have on-site parking.

HOW WE HIRE

No black box. This is what happens after you press send.

  • Within 5 working days you hear from Jonathan Leeters, our in-house recruiter — by phone or e-mail.
  • A first conversation with Jonathan: your story, our story, and the practical questions. Salary is on the table in this conversation, not at the end.
  • A conversation with your future manager and a colleague from the General Cargo team, about the work itself.
  • An offer, or an honest no with the reason why.

Ready to move extraordinary cargo?

Apply via the form below, or send your CV to [email protected].

Questions first? Call or mail Jonathan Leeters, our in-house recruiter - [email protected] - +32 486 60 29 44 . You do not need a finished CV to have a first conversation.

Every application gets an answer from a person, also when the answer is no.

Application Question(s):

  • Do you have experience with ocean freight?

Language:

  • Dutch (Required)
