What they need
Our brand needs an owner. Could it be you?
Most junior designers spend years making other people’s ideas look nice. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our very talented Head of Marketing, to continue to build our whole design system.
Tech Educators helps people retrain and move into careers in tech. We’re growing fast, and every week the business asks us for something new: course slides, social posts, event banners, email campaigns, landing pages. Right now all those requests need one person who can turn them into great work. That’s you.
What you’ll actually do
- Build our design system (about 60% of your time). You’ll set our colours, type, templates and components in Figma or whichever design tool you know best. You’ll run our design desk, which is where requests from across the business come in. You’ll design work for web, social, presentations and learning materials.
- Design our emails (about 25%). This is a real gap in our team, so you’ll be filling it. You’ll build email templates in HubSpot, our email and marketing software. You’ll design campaigns, especially for TechFirst Youth, our programme for young people, and you’ll run simple A/B tests, where we send two versions to see which one works better.
- Events and results (about 15%). You’ll make banners, flyers, decks and merchandise for conferences, and you’ll show us which designs are working.
You’ll also bring your own campaign ideas, not just carry out briefs. You’ll use AI tools like Claude and Gemini to explore ideas faster, with your eye making sure the quality stays high.
You’ll be a great fit if you have
- A portfolio with strong work across digital and print, including social and presentation design
- Some experience building brand guidelines, template libraries or reusable components
- Confidence in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, and you’re comfortable in Canva
- An understanding of why email design is different from web design
- The ability to juggle lots of requests calmly and explain design decisions to people who aren’t designers
- An awareness of accessible design, so our work is readable for everyone
- A genuine interest in helping people into tech careers
Nice to have, but not a dealbreaker: HubSpot email builder, After Effects or other motion tools, web or learning resource design, or experience in education or charities. If you meet most of the essentials but not all of them, please still apply. We care more about your potential than about ticking every box.
What you’ll get
- Work the whole business sees, every single day
- A small, friendly marketing team that values what you bring
- Room to grow your career as we grow
- A 35 hour week-Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with 1 hour for lunch, in our Norwich City Centre office
Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
