What they need
About this company
This company specializes in making industrial environments smarter by developing embedded hardware solutions for two major market sectors: Industry 4.0 and Energy. Operating from Rotterdam, they serve a diverse client base, from global players in the oil and gas industry to national energy suppliers, across North and South America, Asia, and the Middle East. With innovative IoT sensors, monitors, and indicators, they offer new solutions to existing challenges, helping clients work more efficiently and safely. This company has grown from a startup into a mature market player and is now part of a larger organization following a successful merger. The in-house engineers work closely with clients on custom, advanced technologies — and they're looking for you to help them enter their next growth phase.
The role of Junior Hardware Test Engineer
As a Junior Hardware Test Engineer you'll step directly into the production and development environment of a high-tech IoT company. You'll work in a multidisciplinary team of experienced embedded engineers, industrial designers, and software developers, forming the bridge between development and rollout. From assembly to field support: no two days are the same. This is the ideal role for a technical student who doesn't just want to gain theoretical knowledge, but truly wants to roll up their sleeves in a professional, international environment.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Carrying out production activities, including the final assembly of IoT products.
- Flashing firmware, programming devices, and conducting extensive functional tests with prototypes.
- Analyzing test results and carefully documenting findings so engineers can improve hardware reliability.
- Providing on-site support for the installation and maintenance of products in the field.
- Tracking bugs, test cases, and progress using tools such as JIRA.
Candidate profile
- You're a university of applied sciences (HBO) or university (WO) student in a relevant technical field, such as Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- You have an eye for detail, can work with electronic and small hand tools, and are familiar with ESD-safe working practices.
- You're proactive, work systematically, take ownership of documentation, and function well independently.
- Experience with office software and prior production or assembly experience is a plus.
- You're available for at least 16 hours per week, can start on relatively short notice, and are available for at least 6 months.
What does this company offer you?
- A salary of €16 per hour.
- A hands-on work environment where you'll work directly with advanced industrial hardware.
- A place in a multidisciplinary team of experienced engineers, with plenty of room to build your professional network.
- A position of at least 16 hours per week, based in Rotterdam.
