What they need
We are hiring a Junior IT Security Technician who is building a security career.
If you tinker at home, stand up labs, chase certifications because you’re curious, write up what you learned, or break things on purpose so you can understand them YOU ARE the kind of person we want to talk to. This role is a place to turn those interests into a career, with real systems, real users, and people who will help you grow.
Day to day, you’ll support security operations: watching alerts, helping with access and endpoints, tracking vulnerabilities, gathering details when something looks off, and keeping good notes. Senior teammates will teach you the environment. Bring the curiosity; we’ll help with the rest.
What you’ll do
- Watch alerts from SIEM, EDR/antivirus, email security, and similar tools. Do first-pass triage and loop in a senior teammate when something is confirmed or unclear
- Help with access requests, new and departing accounts, MFA issues, and basic access reviews
- Keep endpoint security healthy: agents installed, patches moving, devices meeting our baseline
- Support vulnerability scans by tracking findings and following up with owners
- Help with incident intake by collecting logs, screenshots, timelines, and user details
- Help apply security policies on laptops, workstations, and SaaS apps
- Keep tickets and runbooks current so the next person can pick up where you left off
- Take part in phishing simulations and security awareness work
- Help with access reviews, backup checks, and basic compliance evidence
- Keep learning. We like people who still have a lab, a write-up, or a side project going
What you should bring
- Be able to pass a background check
- Personal projects or hands-on practice outside of work. That can look like:
- A homelab (Active Directory, a firewall, SIEM, VMs, a cloud tenant, etc.)
- CTF attempts and notes
- A script, detection, or small tool you can walk us through
- Blog posts, GitHub repos, or lab write-ups
- Cert study that turned into something you can show, not only a badge
- Comfortable with Windows and the basics of networking: IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls
- A working understanding of least privilege, MFA, patching, malware, phishing, and backups
- Clear communication, especially in writing
- Happy to use a ticketing system and follow a process
- An associate degree in a related field, or equivalent experience through help desk, military IT, internships, or self-taught work
A degree without projects is less useful here than a strong lab and a good explanation of what you learned.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- Dental insurance
- Health insurance
- Professional development assistance
- Vision insurance
