Thaddeus Martin Compliance is seeking a  Junior Lawyer  to join our legal and compliance practice.

The role is suited to a lawyer with at least  12 months' relevant legal experience , including experience working with private equity, investment funds and/or fund-of-funds structures. The successful candidate will work across transactional, funds, regulatory and compliance matters for clients operating in the financial services and investment management sectors.

The role

Responsibilities will include:

• assisting with private equity and investment fund transactions from commencement through execution and closing;
• preparing, reviewing and managing transaction and fund documentation;
• assisting with fund establishment, investment and related documentation;
• coordinating transaction execution, conditions precedent, completion requirements and deal closings;
• conducting and reviewing  KYC and AML/CTF  due diligence;
• assisting with Australasian investor onboarding and associated Australian regulatory requirements;
• reviewing legal, regulatory and compliance issues affecting investment funds and financial services businesses;
• preparing and reviewing compliance and risk reports;
• assisting with regulatory, governance and compliance documentation;
• working with clients, counterparties, external counsel and other advisers in progressing transactions; and
• supporting the firm's broader legal, risk and compliance advisory work.

About you

You must have:

• a recognised law degree and admission as an Australian lawyer;
• at least  12-24 months' relevant post-admission legal experience ;
• demonstrated experience in  private equity, investment funds and/or fund-of-funds ;
• experience preparing or reviewing  fund and transaction documentation ;
• practical experience with  KYC, AML/CTF and client/investor due diligence ;
• experience assisting with or managing transaction execution and closings;
• an understanding of regulatory compliance and risk reporting;
• strong drafting, analytical and legal research skills;
• experience in cross-border Australasian or US financial services;
• fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, or Japanese - additional languages may be considered on a case by case basis;
• excellent attention to detail and organisational skills; and
• the ability to manage matters independently while working as part of a small professional team.

Experience in Australasian financial services regulation, managed investment structures, corporate transactions or investment management will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

$90,000 per annum plus superannuation.
