Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lighting Architect / Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in turning creative architectural concepts into technically feasible, visually striking, and energy-efficient architectural lighting solutions for building exteriors and feature spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lighting Design & Conceptualization
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and develop innovative lighting concepts for facades, landscapes, feature spaces, and illuminated signage.
  • Translate client briefs into compelling lighting concepts, mood boards, light-effect studies, and preliminary visual presentations.
  1. Technical Execution & Documentation
  • Collaborate closely with internal design teams to develop projects from initial concept through Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documentation (CD).
  • Draft and review lighting layouts, mounting and installation details, fixture schedules, and lighting specifications.
  • Prepare lighting control schematics and coordinate basic control logic (e.g., DALI, DMX).
  1. Research & Technical Feasibility
  • Research and evaluate luminaires, LED technologies, optics, lighting controls, and media-facade systems to ensure suitability for each project context.
  • Perform lighting calculations and simulations, and balance creative ambition with practical constraints such as IP/IK ratings, energy codes, glare and light-pollution limits, maintenance access, and sustainability targets (e.g., LEED, LOTUS).
  1. Stakeholder Coordination & Project Management
  • Liaise and coordinate with external stakeholders, including clients, principal architects, electrical/MEP consultants, lighting suppliers, and lighting contractors.
  • Coordinate the lighting–facade interface with the Facade team (fixture integration, cable routing, and mounting details).
  • Attend site meetings, review fixture samples and mockups, and support on-site aiming, adjustment, and night-time commissioning when required.

Candidate Requirements

  1. Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience in architectural or exterior lighting design is preferred; fresh graduates with a strong portfolio and clear focus on lighting design will also be considered.
  1. Technical Skills & Software Proficiency
  • Core Software: Highly proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit (BIM).
  • Lighting Analysis: Working knowledge of Dialux (Evo) or Relux for lighting calculations and simulation is required.
  • Design & Rendering: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Rhino, Grasshopper, or rendering engines (Enscape, V-Ray, D5) is a strong plus.
  • Controls: Basic understanding of lighting control protocols (DALI, DMX) and media-facade systems is highly advantageous.
  1. Professional Competencies
  • Strong technical acumen with a keen eye for light, shadow, color, and atmosphere in architectural spaces.
  • Proactive mindset with a strong drive to learn and master specialized niche skills in lighting technology.
  • Excellent teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Language Skills
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English (capable of presenting concepts, reading technical specifications, and communicating with international clients/consultants) is a strong advantage.

Benefits & Work Environment

  • Compensation: Competitive salary package commensurate with experience and technical proficiency (performance-based annual reviews).
  • Work-Life Balance: Standard 5-day workweek (Monday to Friday; weekends off).
  • Professional Growth: Hands-on experience with high-profile, complex architectural projects that demand rigorous design and technical standards.
  • Career Progression: Clear long-term career advancement pathways in the specialized fields of architectural lighting design and lighting engineering.
  • Benefits: Social insurance, health insurance, paid annual leave, and company outings according to labor laws.
