Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you will support Consultants with research, analysis and report-writing across live and prospective M&A and post-merger integration assignments.

The role combines desk research, financial analysis, process definition, pipeline tracking, outreach to potential targets and due diligence support in a boutique consultancy environment. Work will be completed under the guidance of experienced Consultants.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong analytical skills and business acumen seeking to build a career in M&A, Private Equity, accounting, or management consulting.

Duties

  • Conduct desk research into companies, sectors and markets to identify and profile potential acquisition and investment targets, using public sources and subscription databases provided by the firm.
  • Prepare concise company profiles, target lists and summary reports covering ownership, facilities, financial indicators where available and strategic fit, for review by Senior Consultants and clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial models and valuation analyses using Microsoft Excel.
  • Use process-mapping tools, such as Visio, Lucidchart, or PowerPoint, to create clear process maps and flow charts covering client operations, target business processes and proposed post-deal integration workflows.
  • Draft and send structured outreach emails to potential acquisition targets and intermediaries on behalf of clients, following agreed templates, tone and compliance guidance.
  • Create and maintain project documentation for each transaction or initiative
  • Maintain and update tracking reports on research status, outreach, responses, follow-ups and the deal pipeline, using Excel and/or other agreed tools.
  • Update the CRM system with new contacts, meeting notes, call outcomes and deal-stage changes, ensuring data consistency and basic segmentation.
  • Use AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude, to help draft research notes, summary reports, comparison tables and initial due diligence checklists, subject to consultant review.
  • Provide structured support to commercial and operational due diligence by compiling data-room materials, populating checklists, logging information gaps and flagging issues to senior staff.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including information memorandum annexes, summary tables and process notes, to a standard suitable for direct inclusion in client deliverables once reviewed.
  • Provide recruitment support connected with projects or the consultancy’s wider resourcing needs, as required.

Skills and experience

  • Experience in a similar role gained in a professional services, financial services, private equity or corporate environment.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience of market research.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and valuation methods.
  • Experience analysing or or preparing financial reports and statements.
  • Excellent written English, with the ability to draft professional emails and concise research summaries tailored to senior and external audiences.
  • Proficient in Excel and other data analysis tools, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and formulas.
  • Skills in creating process maps and diagrams using tools such as Visio and PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when updating trackers, CRM records and due diligence documentation.
  • Confident using AI tools to accelerate research and drafting, while remaining critical and able to check, challenge and refine outputs manually.
  • Discreet and professional, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information relating to live transactions and potential acquisitions.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus but not required.
