Junior Materials Engineer

Brief Description Junior Materials Engineer We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Materials Engineer to join our Manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in materials selection, testing, analysis and product development within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Production teams, you will support the evaluation of materials, investigate material-related issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product performance, quality, sustainability and manufacturing efficiency. This role is ideal for someone with a qualification in Engineering or a related discipline who is looking to build a successful career in engineering and innovation.

Duties Include

• Support the selection, evaluation and specification of materials for new and existing products, ensuring suitability for intended applications.
• Conduct material testing, inspections and analysis to assess performance, durability, reliability and compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
• Investigate material failures, product defects and quality concerns, identifying root causes and contributing to corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide material-related technical input and recommendations to support product development and innovation projects.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, design and engineering teams to improve product performance, manufacturability and production efficiency.
• Analyse test data and prepare technical reports, presentations and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
• Support supplier assessments, material approvals and the qualification of new materials and components.
• Maintain accurate records of material specifications, test results and engineering documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and internal quality management systems.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material performance, sustainability, quality enhancement and cost reduction.
• Research emerging materials, technologies and manufacturing processes to support product innovation and business objectives.
• Assist in resolving production and customer-related technical issues involving materials and product performance.
• Contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives relating to materials, manufacturing processes and product development.
• Adhere to all health, safety and environmental procedures while carrying out engineering activities.
• Participate in team meetings, project reviews and engineering problem-solving activities.
• Undertake any other duties and responsibilities reasonably assigned by management.

Skills And Characteristics

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering
